The UK event, now in its ninth year, comes as the cycling industry is in the midst of a golden age after its popularity soared during lockdown.

With some people still not back at work, the 2020 Cycle to Work Day encourages people to ride their bikes anywhere, for any reason and with anyone.

The event aims to encourage more people to leave their cars on the drive and take a journey on two wheels, whether it’s their daily commute or a lunch-break ride with friends.

The annual boost to cycling comes as the Government has launched several initiatives to encourage cycling (see notes to editors). This saw Insync in the spotlight in July when the Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the latest £2billion cycling package while riding a Viking bike, a classic British brand, from the Insync Bikes range .

Insync Bikes sales director Wayne Clarke said Cycle to Work Day is especially important this year as it can give people confidence to commute by bike for the first time.

“Insync always supports Cycle to Work Day but it is extremely apt that this year it comes just a week after the government announced its drive to get more people cycling. Riding a bike has far-reaching benefits, from increased physical and mental health and strengthened immunity to infections to the environmental benefits of having fewer cars on the roads. We all know of the frustrations of rush-hour traffic and these problems could be alleviated by encouraging more people to commute by bike – a journey that would leave them refreshed and ready for the day ahead.”

Shanaze Reade, Olympic BMX rider and track cyclist recently offered her tips on how to choose the best commuter bike for you.
